Destination wedding videography typically runs $1,500 to $3,500 above standard package pricing, covering flights, lodging, and gear for the full shooting weekend.
And why should you bring a trusted, professional wedding videographer to your destination wedding?
Peace of mind.
If you’re already investing in one of the biggest day’s of your life, especially if it’s far away from home on a day that only happens once, why would not you invest in your videos & photos?
But the fees shift based on location, trip length, and how many days of coverage you want beyond the ceremony itself. For couples planning a wedding outside their videographer’s home market, this is often the single biggest pricing question, and the one vendors are least transparent about.
Here’s exactly what goes into that number, and why destination weddings happen to be the work we’re most known for.
What’s Included in a Destination Wedding Videography Package?
A destination wedding videography package covers everything a local wedding does like the ceremony, reception, directed portrait sessions, full edit and premiere delivery, plus the logistics of getting a full production team to your location. That means flights, lodging, and equipment transport for however many shooters your package includes.
For the most part, Templeton Image operates as a solo videographer to keep things minimal & intentional. Either way, multi-day coverage (welcome dinner, rehearsal, day-after session) gets built in as an add-on, not folded silently into the base price.
What Drives the Travel Fee Up or Down?
Three things move the number.
– Distance is the obvious one; the flight cost with checked bags & carry-on fees
– Trip length matters more, a three-day stay costs less than a five-day one built around a full wedding weekend. Plus, there has to be early arrival to account for delay potentials & lost baggage. For international weddings, a four-day stay is required (2 nights before event, night of event & 1 night after)
– Location logistics also factor in, a resort with on-site lodging costs less than a remote venue requiring separate transport and multiple lodging bookings.
Why Destination Weddings Are Where We Do Our Best Work
This is the kind of wedding we book the most and the kind we’re best known for.
Directed, cinematic coverage translates well to unfamiliar locations because the approach doesn’t depend on knowing a venue inside and out, it depends on controlling light, composition, and pacing wherever we land, not matter the situation. It’s the same skill set on a mountain in Colorado or a coastline overseas.
But it’s something you’ll only get from a top wedding filmmaker and not some resort videographer.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is the average cost of a destination wedding videographer?
Most destination bookings add $1,500 to $3,500 on top of standard package pricing, depending on distance and trip length.
Does the travel fee cover the whole team?
Yes. It covers flights, lodging, and gear transport for every shooter included in your package, not just the lead videographer.
How far in advance should I book for a destination wedding?
9 to 12 months out is standard, this locks your date and gives enough runway for travel planning on both ends.
